Factory Honda finish the year strong!
The Factory Honda Team finished the year strong with a dominating win in the AMX MX OPEN. Kyle Webster, Brett Metcalfe, and Dean Ferris competed on Honda's 2022 CRF450R.
Webster’s first ride against his rivals in the MX1 (450) class was a dominating one, he qualified 1st and clean swept all three races.
“I didn’t know what to expect going into this weekend. The bike was on rails. The team bolted in some new SHOWA suspension, and it was amazing. There are so many people I want to thank for their support this year, I couldn’t achieve these results without them. Honda have been awesome, my trainer Ross Beaton and all our wonderful sponsors. I can’t wait to race again, these past two years have been tough on everyone,” said Webster.
Metcalfe did a terrific job to finish 3rd overall. Metcalfe has yet to finalise his plans for 2022, the Factory Honda team have presented him with an option.
“I am glad I came over to race, I still feel competitive, and I love racing. I haven’t decided what I am doing next year but I want to race and hopefully I can make that happen”, said Metcalfe.
Ferris used the weekend for testing. The team made multiple changes to collect integral data. The weekend marked the first time the team and Dean got to work together as boarder closures had restricted the team and Dean from traveling. Dean finished 5th overall and will remain in Victoria to continue testing.
“The results don’t show what we achieved over the weekend. We learnt a lot and will apply it to the changes we make this week as we continue with testing”, said Ferris.
Team Director Yarrive Konsky was happy with the results but acknowledged the team has a lot of work ahead of them.
“Kyle rode well, he looked comfortable, but we know where we can improve, and we will work together on those areas in the coming weeks. Metcalfe is a class act, a great friend, and a strong competitor, I hope we are working together next year. Ferris did exactly what we wanted him to do. There was no need for him to push. It was the first weekend we have spent together, and we collected a lot of data that we will use to prepare for testing this week”, said Konsky
